Challhuaquen - Overview

Location: Argentina - South of San Martin and Bariloche, the Esquel region is a mountainous area in the vast south of Patagonia.

Season: November 1 to May 2

Capacity: Challhuaquen accommodates 12

The Esquel Region has remained a real frontier in Argentina's fishing arena due to its isolation and sparse population. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid laid low in Esquel during their bank robbing spree in South America; the area is rich in history as well as trout resources.

Challhuaquen, which in the Mapuche Indian tongue means "fishing place," has been created to satisfy the most demanding anglers. The lodge is located on the northern bank of the Futaleufu River in an area similar in appearance to the Western states in the U.S., particularly Montana and Wyoming of years past. The combination of fishing in pristine waters for brown, rainbow and brook trout as well as landlocked salmon while surrounded by glacial lakes, millenarian trees, and magnificent landscapes then returning to the elegance and comfort of Challhuaquen Lodge offers visitors a unique experience.
