Connecting three lakes, the Rio Filo Hua Hum holds a good population of rainbow and brown trout. Surrounded by dense valley vegetation, the river meanders for approximately 5 miles. Within this stretch of water are numerous pools, riffles with drop-offs, pocket water, and undercut banks; all are haunts for trout looking to bushwhack their next meal. A bounty of food coaxes big fish into the river in Spring (September-December) and Fall (March-June). Strong hatches of caddis and mayflies add to the allure of this lovely freestone river. Dry flies are the fly of choice although the opportunity to swing a streamer through a deep pool should never be passed up. This destination is a great place for novice anglers to develop their casting and fishing skills. Expert anglers will be challenged in the stretch of river know as the "chalk stream."
