Andros Island is not a single island but a labyrinth of islands, cays and waterways that make up the largest area of bonefish habitat in the world. This area is also reputed to be the home to some of the world's largest bonefish. The island of Mangrove Cay is in the center of it all. Our location on the north shore of Mangrove Cay, inside the Middle Bight, provides easy access to the North, Middle and South Bights and to the remote and revered West Side. This ability to travel in all directions without ever having to trailer a boat or run in the open ocean enables the guides to plan their day around the changing tides or to fish the lee shores.
Our waterfront setting allows guests to simply walk from the dining room to the dock for departure. A fully equipped 16-ft Dolphin skiff with a 90-hp motor will be waiting to take you to any corner of this vast fishery, quickly and comfortably. Each of the areas has trophy potential as well as opportunities to cast to schools of average-sized bones in the 3- to 4-pound range. But, as has often proved the case, a chance at one of Andros's large bonefish is just as likely to be found five minutes from the dock as it is on the remote West Side.
The club's 26-ft. Catamaran with twin 150-hp Yamaha engines is on hand to take guests to the nearby Tongue of the Ocean to do battle with an abundance of pelagic species from mahi mahi, yellowfin tuna, dorado, and barracuda. The boat is also available to take guests to the Water Cays, located at the southern tip of Andros, about a 90-minute run from the lodge.
