Protected from the northern trade winds, the Quepos region offers outstanding sport for marlin and sailfish through the peak season (December-April). Inshore fishing is done from 24-ft center-console skiffs with local captains and guides experienced in spin/plug casting and fly fishing methods. The inshore reefs are home to an immense population of large snapper, grouper, roosterfish, amberjack, wahoo, mackerel, jack crevalle, and African pompano -- while just minutes offshore, schools of tuna and dorado can spread for acres.
Frontiers is pleased to be working with Flamingo Bay Charters, which began operation at Flamingo Beach in 1985 and has maintained its reputation as one of the finest charter service companies on Costa Rica's west coast. They feature an extensive fleet of professional fishing charter boats, all equipped with IGFA class tackle, VHF radios, depth recorders and electronic navigational systems. Fly tackle is available on many of the boats and you can count on knowledgeable captains and crews to help guide anglers who want to take a sailfish on the fly. We have been extremely pleased with the personal attention and excellent service that Flamingo Bay Charters reliably provides.
