Rio Parismina - Fishing

The interaction of the saltwater and freshwater ecosystems at this lodge provides a diverse selection of both fresh and saltwater gamefish. Monster tarpon in the 75-110 lb. plus range are the main attractions, but, also offered is the option of fishing a few miles offshore where you may catch snapper, wahoo, jack crevalle, king mackerel and tuna. The backwaters and lagoons are home to exotic, tropical freshwater species such as the elusive guapote, machaca, and mojara as well as mangrove snappers, four different species of snook, providing great light tackle action. All of the available species can be caught on a fly and it is quite exciting sport, but due to the amount of rainfall in this tropical rainforest region, except for sight casting to tarpon when they are rolling, the sport is mostly blind-casting with some degree of sinking lines or floating lines. During specific times of the year, pending the weather, the tranquil waters of lagoons, rivers and small jungle creeks are accessed via 17-ft jon boats, offering fly rodders and light-tackle angler's access to the jungle waterways.

Rio Parismina's English-speaking guides have fished these waters for many years and have full command of the best spin, plug, and fly fishing techniques to maximize your fishing enjoyment. Loaner tackle is provided free of charge and there is a well-equipped and stockled tackle shop if you wish to purchase equipment. They have all of the lures popular for this area and quality rods and reels with fresh line.
