Silver King Lodge has emerged over the past few seasons as a premier world-class tarpon fishing resort. It is situated in a lush tropical environment on the banks of the Rio Colorado on the northeast coast of Costa Rica. They have a dozen 23-ft deep V-hull fiberglass boats that were built on site; 19-ft flat-bottom Carolina skiffs are used for river fishing; and 17-ft canoes are perfect for fishing the lagoons that no other boats can enter. The area abounds in a myriad of tranquil lagoons and major rivers offering light-tackle action for guapote (rainbow bass), machaca (a voracious feeder), and the exotically colored mojara (resembles a sunfish). Tarpon and snook are occasionally encountered in these waters as well as upriver on the Rio Colorado.
