Aggressive Peacock Bass in a Comfortable Jungle Setting

As summer fades and the first signs of fall creep in, it's the perfect time to start thinking about winter fishing plans. If you live in a region where the cold grips tightly, now is the time to consider a getaway to escape the approaching chill. One of our favorite winter escapes is the Agua Boa Amazon Lodge. Located in the northern Brazilian state of Roraima, the Agua Boa River offers some of the finest fishing for peacock bass along with numerous other jungle species. What makes Agua Boa so unique is that when the water levels drop, the clear waters flow over white sand flats, creating an incredible opportunity for sight fishing for big aggressive peacock bass. This exceptional fishery is complemented by air-conditioned riverside bungalows, fine cuisine, abundant wildlife, and of course, outstanding fishing.

While Peacock Bass fishing is the primary focus, the river is also rich with species like Arapaima, Arowana, and Catfish, along with a variety of other fish that eagerly take a fly. With jet boats, poling platforms, and experienced guides, the Agua Boa stands out as one of the most remarkable fisheries you'll find anywhere in the world. The fishing season runs from October through March annually, and they still have some excellent openings available.

Despite its remote location, the lodge is equipped with a wealth of amenities that make it truly exceptional. It features a paved runway, private bungalows, a 30-meter pool with stunning river views, and a beautiful main lodge showcasing its Brazilian charm. With no need for floatplanes or domestic transfers, reaching the lodge is straightforward with direct charter flight service from Manaus and back. After a day of fishing, you can unwind with appetizers by the pool before indulging in a wonderful dinner. The experience is as remarkable as the surroundings. Their seasoned guides, with years of experience, ensure that each day on the river is enjoyable and memorable. In our view, it stands as the premier jungle fishing lodge in South America.

While the fishing is truly spectacular, the exotic birds, wildlife, and jungle experience are equally exceptional. Throughout the season, guests often spot jaguars, tapirs, monkeys, and a stunning array of bird species. As you navigate the miles of jungle by boat, you'll discover a well-preserved environment is home to a variety of beautiful species both above the water and below.
