Ascension Bay Lodge

Great location in Punta Allen and the Famed Ascension Bay Fishery

This Lodge is beachfront in the village of Punta Allen. The legendary flats of Ascension Bay and the beautiful Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve serve as their playground to endless fishing opportunities with miles of mangrove-lined shorelines, shallow flats, and lagoon systems. Commercial fishing is not allowed in the bay, which helps develop into one of the most prolific fisheries in the Caribbean. The Lodge, previously known as the Ascension Bay Bonefish Club, helped pioneer the Ascension Bay fishery. After closing a few years ago, it was recently sold and renamed.

Fishing

Fishing Ascension Bay revolves around the Grand Slam species of the flats: bonefish, permit, tarpon, and snook. The new owners believe good guides are the key to having a successful flats experience, so each panga is manned by experienced head and assistant guides who work together as a team.

Accommodation

The Lodge is a nicely appointed three bedroom house with comfortable air-conditioned rooms. The two larger rooms have en-suite bathrooms. The third bedroom has the bathroom located across the hall. Perfect for an intact group of six anglers.

Gear

Frontiers will be glad to share our expert advice. As a general rule, a 7 or 8 wt. outfit for bonefish, 9 - 10 wt. outfit for the permit, tarpon and snook, all with saltwater tropical floating lines. We send you a complete gear list upon confirmation.

Trip Specifics
