Attention wingshooters and conservationists! The North American Grasslands Conservation Act was recently introduced in the House of Representative, once passed the legislation will be one of the most significant steps for grassland conservation efforts in the 21st century. More than 70% of America's tallgrass, mixed grass, and shortgrass prairies have vanished, followed by more than a 40% decrease in grassland bird populations since the 60s. The Grassland Act seeks to kickstart a protection and restoration of grasslands and sagebrush shrub-steppe ecosystems and the livelihoods and wildlife that are dependent on them.
Over the years, it has become increasingly clear just how important good habitat is to our wildlife, including fish and birds among many others. We have an opportunity to take another step now towards reversing the trend for habitat critically important to upland species. If you feel compelled, we ask that you speak with your Representatives and consider supporting one of the nonprofit organizations helping to improve and protect our grasslands.
