Driven Partridge Shooting in Spain

Open Lines for Single Guns for the Upcoming Season

Embarking on a partridge shooting expedition in Spain is an exhilarating experience that captures the essence of European driven hunts. The rugged landscapes of the Spanish countryside, with its rolling hills, dense thickets, and sprawling farmlands, set the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable adventure. Spain is one of my favorite places to shoot internationally, and I have hosted several private lines of guns over the years.  I know personally how difficult it is to find 6-8 friends, align personal calendars, and form a private group to go shoot for a few days in Europe.

Great estates we represent in Spain offer open line dates where smaller groups of 1-4 guns can join other hunters in the field.  If you want to shoot in Spain during the upcoming 2025/2026 season, there are some great dates available.

Ventosilla Shooting Estate, located near Toledo, Spain, is one of the country’s most historic and renowned destinations for driven red-legged partridge shooting. Founded in the late 19th century, it’s often credited as the birthplace of driven shooting in Spain.  The estate covers around 4,000 hectares of varied terrain, including hills and gorges, offering over 60 different drives with challenging, high-flying birds. It caters to both traditional and high-volume shooting styles.  Close to Madrid, this estate is wonderful!

Los Melonares is a prestigious partridge shooting estate located near Seville.  Known for its steep valleys and thick cover, it offers dynamic and challenging drives, including the famous “El Muro,” where birds fly fast and high from deep ravines.  At the center of the estate is a historic palace that features the Madariaga family’s impressive trophy collection. Guests are treated to a warm, family-style welcome, combining world-class sport with the charm of Andalusia.  In terms of quality, value, and climate, this estate is a great option.

The allure of Spain is captivating; and what makes it so attractive to me is the combination of culture, beauty, hospitality, the climate, and the incredibly challenging and fun driven red-legged partridge.  The country has the shooting lore and tradition firmly embedded, but Spain is comfortably less formal.  There is so much to see and do in the country, which makes Spain a great place to bring a non-shooting companion.  In fact, most estates welcome non-shooters and there is little (if any) additional cost to have them join you on the estate.  We can easily arrange day trips to very interesting towns like Toledo, Cordoba, and Seville.  Pre- and post-shoot, our Team can organize amazing itinerary extensions in Spain to include the Med or Atlantic Coast, the Pyrenees, the wine country, and/or Barcelona.  Portugal is also easily accessible, as are other sights to see in Europe.
