Last week, Christmas Island Lodge was named the "Kiritimati Business of the Year." This award is highly coveted and was delivered by the Tourism Department of the Republic of Kiribati. The award highlights the "contribution to the livelihood and welfare of te I-Kiritimati (people of Christmas Island)." This is an incredible achievement for Christmas Island Lodge, especially considering this is only their first year of operation!
Christmas Island is situated about 1200 miles southwest of Honolulu in the Pacific Ocean. Well known for big bonefish and giant trevally, Christmas Island has 150 square miles of coral and hard sand flats to wade in, with dozens of fish species to hunt. The species variety and the seemingly endless opportunity for success has made Christmas Island one of the most desirable flats fishing destinations for decades.
Christmas Island Lodge has been open since August 2023, actively renovating and updating their amenities. With their fifth two-suite lodge, Christmas Island Lodge can now accommodate up to 10 anglers. In addition, construction of the new maneaba, serving as the lodge's fresh dining area, cocktail hour meeting spot, and overall beachside hangout has been completed!
