Located in Freeport, Grand Bahama, H2O is an easy program to reach from the U.S.; Guests fly to FPO and can often fish by noon. H2O’s reputation is for big bones and a budding permit fishery along with seasonal shots at tarpon. Beginners enjoy the larger schools of more forgiving, smaller bonefish. Terrific offshore flyfishing for dorado and tuna are seasonal options. H2O also appeals to the non-angler with direct access to SCUBA diving, snorkeling, beaches, pool, casinos and shopping. Bones average 4-5 lbs. and regular shots at 7-8 lb. fish are the main attraction. The club best is 14.5 lbs! Permit are seen spring to early fall, and tarpon and mutton snapper from May-September. 17’ flats skiffs are equipped with 85-HP outboards, VHF radio, cell phone, safety kits, and leaning bar
The Pelican Bay Hotel offers 2 room types. Standard waterside rooms are 640 sq. ft.; suites, known as state rooms, are 750 sq. ft. with a separate living area. Each boast spectacular views from private balconies, complimentary coffee and espresso machines, Wi-Fi, cable TV and refrigerators.
A 7-9 wt. outfit for bonefish and a 9-10 wt. for permit and tarpon, all with tropical saltwater. floating lines are suggested. A full gear list will be sent upon confirmation. Frontiers can provide expert advice on finding the right gear for your trip. Rental fly/spin gear is available.
Freeport (FPO) is a short 50-minute flight from Miami. Most of the major US airlines fly daily to FPO and private charter flights are easily arranged. There are no set arrival or departure days. The hotel is a 15-minute taxi ride from the airport. A minimum of 2 days fishing is required. A passport that is valid for 6 months after the last day of your trip is required. If your passport expires before then, please renew it right away. No visa is required for U.S. citizens. Residents of other countries should contact their Bahamas consulate.
