Igloo Lake Lodge is 72 miles southeast of Goose Bay near the 53rd parallel. This region is famous for its abundance of large speckled brook trout. Northern pike are available from the Lodge. They also offer optional fly-out fishing trips for Atlantic salmon and arctic char seasonally. Igloo Lake interconnects to hundreds of square miles of unrivaled trout fishing waters. Small river segments join portions of the Lake together to add some moving water and wade fishing to the equation. This is a fly fishing/catch and release only Lodge.
Anglers at Igloo Lake can expect brookies in the four to six pound range and some up to eight pounds. There are optional fly-outs for Atlantic salmon from mid-July to the first week of August and for arctic char from Aug - Sept 15. One guide for two guests and catch and release only for brook trout.
The main Lodge is a 1700 sq. ft. with five twin bedrooms and two full bathrooms. Their new Labrador Room has 800 sq. ft. of space with two large bedrooms with full en-suites, a large living room, small kitchenette, and a covered veranda offering a sweeping view of the Lake.
We suggest 5 or 6 wt. fly rod with weight forward floating line, and tapered 9’ leaders of 2 - 6 pound test. There is a permit for only single barbless hooks on the river. The Lodge has patterns for sale, but we encourage anglers to bring a selection. Frontiers will provide a full pre-trip.
There are daily flights in and out of Goose Bay from most Canadian cities with connections worldwide. Guests must overnight in Goose Bay at a Frontiers arranged hotel at an additional charge. Guests then transfer from Goose Bay to Igloo Lake Lodge the following morning via fixed-wing aircraft – or helicopter - scheduled flight included. Anglers fish on the day of arrival at the lodge. Dining is family style with a hearty comfort food menu.
$5,750 USD per person for a six day fishing trip. Guests fish on the day of arrival. Optional fly-outs are available for Atlantic salmon from the second week of July to the first week of August. Optional fly-outs are available for arctic char from first week of Aug - Sept 15.
