One of the first Barry and Cathy Beck departures was on the Bighorn River in Montana. Join them August 22-29, 2020 and August 29-September 5, 2020 as they return to this quality over quantity fishery. The Bighorn stretches for miles and showcases back channels, eddies, weedy marshes, and islands that make the perfect habitat for large trout. It’s where the Becks personally go to get their fish fix. August generally produces spectacular hopper fishing and the occasional yellow sally, mahogany, trico, and black caddis hatches. Nymph fishing is always a dependable bet, too.
Enjoy six full days of wade and float fishing on the Bighorn River. Each day begins with a gourmet breakfast, and a streamside lunch recharges you for the afternoon. Swap tales in the main Lodge dining area over a hearty dinner, and soak in the rural setting beneath the Bighorn Mountains.
Each comfortable, rustic room is complete with two double beds, en suite bath, small refrigerator, coffee maker, and air conditioner and features work by local artists. The front porch is perfect for enjoying the sweet, clean air and country quiet. Hang your waders to dry on the hooks by your door.

The Becks greet you upon arrival at the Billings airport and transport you 90 minutes to Kingfisher Lodge. Knowledgeable guides are ready to share their secrets with you and, more importantly, do everything in their power to ensure a fun and memorable fishing experience. They use McKenzie-style drift boats to take you on your journey down the Bighorn. This is first and foremost a serious trout fishing destination. Wi-Fi is available throughout the Lodge, and cell service is generally good.
Longtime Frontiers trip hosts and photographers, the Becks travel far and wide to follow their love for fly fishing and nature photography. Based in Pennsylvania, Barry and Cathy write books, host fly fishing departures, lead African photo safaris, and operate a stock photography business. The Becks are well-known in the fishing, photography, and travel industries, and possess a stellar reputation for their skill, knowledge, and expertise born out of a 20 year career.
Their most recent books include Cathy Beck’s Fly Fishing Handbook, now in its third edition; Fly Waters Near and Far, a coffee table book of photographs, and a soon-to-be-released book on Alaska.
