If big golden dorado is your target species, then there is no place matching La Zona. Since opening its waters in 2005, La Zona has been on the forefront of the sport fishing world, smashing almost every world record in its path. With the quantity and quality of fish found in these waters, expectations are high and La Zona delivers. The best months for fly casters are January and February. The best time for spin fisherman looking for mammoth dorado is August to November when most world records have been set. This is a 12-month fishery operating from Friday to Monday.
This fishery has the perfect synergy of elements necessary to grow the most goliath golden dorado on the planet. Line class records are broken each year and the chance at the fish of a lifetime is real. You will fish the 1.5 mile tailwater discharge of the Grande Salto Dam on the Uruguay River.

Stiff 9/10 wt. fly rod is required. Tropical floating line and 250-400 grain sinking line is a must. A 6-1/2-7 foot MH action spinning/bait casting rod is best. Spool baitcasting reels with braided line in the 65-80 lb. size and 30-40 lb. braided line for spinning reels.
Fishing is limited to 4 days each week; Friday-Monday. The outfitter works closely with biologists to stay in compliance with strict regulations imposed by the government protecting this unique fishing treasure. Guests fly commercially into Buenos Aires Ezeiza International Airport. You’ll be met by a representative of the lodge and driven via air conditioned club van to the town of Concordia located roughly 270 miles north of Buenos Aires. It’s a drive of about 5 hours on a nicely paved highway. Private charter flights can be arranged from either of Buenos Aires' downtown airports.
