Located above the famous salmon water, the Laxa is home to brown trout that flourish in the extensive waters. The lower beat, Laxárdalur, features long flats where you will look to spot cruising or holding fish in the prime lies. The upper beat, Mývatnssveit, features more pocket water, fast riffles and braided runs, where a properly mended line will make your fly drift correctly and induce strikes. These two areas combined have over 32 km of fishing and are divided into 15 beats, each accommodating between one and three rods.
The river is divided into two sections: Laxá¡rdalur and Myvatnssveit. Although they are characteristically different the numerous brown trout behave in the same way and look for midges and gnats upon which to gorge themselves.
The lodge has 10 rooms with basic accommodation and shared bathrooms according to gender.
The Laxa flows through a wide valley with lush green foliage. Sparsely populated this remote area has a slower pace to life that is palpable and only broken as your reel begins to sing from a large brown trout that can be hooked in this river.
Every trip to Iceland is different with a varying number of days fishing, possibly in different areas staying in different lodges and with or without non-fishing extensions. Therefore, every trip is by quotation once planned based on your choices and preferences as well as choice of accommodation.
