John and Krista Sampson have a quarter-century of experience in the fishing lodge industry, and they have used that hard-earned knowledge to design and build Madison Double R from the ground up. The lodge is easily accessed from Bozeman, MT, and set near the famous Varney Bridge section of the Madison, with breathtaking mountain views. The tasteful, modern-West design is relaxed and comfortable, the food is outstanding, and the fishing along the Madison is legendary.
The namesake Madison River is the main focus. This classic western river offers plenty of options throughout its many fishable sections, and each section will shine for different reasons at different times of the year. The lower Big Hole, Jefferson, and Ruby are also within reach.
5 Creekside cabins, each with two queen beds, large en suite bath, kitchenette, and deck area. 2 Mountainview cabins with 2 bedrooms (4 queen beds total per cabin), en suite for each bedroom, and large central living area. Golf carts and bicycles for each cabin.
We will provide a thorough packing list. We like 9 ft, 5- and 6- wt. rods (depending on the waters and styles you are fishing) with floating lines. Be sure to bring quality raingear, polarized sunglasses, and a hat for sun protection. Dress in layers!
The Madison Double R offers additional length of stay packages upon request. The closest commercial airport is Bozeman (BZN), which is serviced by Delta, Alaska/Horizon, United, Frontier, and Allegiant. The airport is approximately 1 hour from the Double R. We can arrange airport transfers at an additional fee, or you may secure a rental car and have access to Ennis, Yellowstone N.P. and more.
