Mauritius, an Indian Ocean Island nation located approximately 500 nautical miles due east of Madagascar. Volcanic in origin, the main island is renowned for its inland peak’s coastal beaches and the surrounding coral reefs. The capital of the country is Port Louis which is rich in French colonial architecture and nautical and regional history that begs for exploration. The capital city is regional and typically the jumping-off point for traveling anglers bound for St. Brandon’s Atoll, a five-island cluster consisting of between 30 and 40 islands and sand banks some 270 miles northeast of the capitol.
