Myrarkvisl (salmon & trout)

NORTHERN ICELANDS SMALL RIVER THAT OFFERS BIG SURPRISES

This river is like two rivers in one. Beginning in April you can target chunky brown trout who are eager to put on weight from the winter spawn. Late June until the end of the season, the brown trout become selective feeders but by then the Atlantic salmon start arriving and the river begins its second phase until the end of the salmon season. With a consistent flow of water from Lake’s Langavatn & Kringluvatn, the Myrarkvisl does not often suffer from the same water woes that some other rivers experience in Iceland which means that the salmon struggle to enter the river system.

Fishing

The Myrarkvisl has good numbers of salmon for such a small river (25 km) and is perfect for a single-handed rod. The river is known for it’s healthy run of multi winter fish of 10 to 20 pounds, along with getting it’s fabulous trout.
