New Water Added to Reel Action Alaska Lodge for 2024

The Arolik River has been added to the Reel Action Alaska Lodge lineup for 2024. This is a fly fishing only destination with a Mid-June to September fishing season. The Arolik is a costal river that meanders parallel to the Kanektok with about half the flow. Like the Kanektok, the Arolik is home to all five species of Pacific salmon, as well as rainbow trout, dolly varden, and grayling.  So, what makes the Arolik unique? Many fly fishermen have come back from the Arolik with the rare feeling like they may have been one of the first to ever fish the river.

You’ll love rainbow fishing on the Arolik.  With such low fishing pressure, these rainbows grow large with age. Alaska Fish and Game has done studies in the Arolik identifying an extraordinary number of rainbows over 10 years old.  These are also some of the most colorful rainbows you can find anywhere in the world. August brings the silver salmon run which is as impressive on the Arolik as it is on the Kanektok.

This power trio of options now feature the Kanektok, the Arolik, and a full day of fishing inside the exclusive Togiak National Wildlife Refuge. For those looking for the highest quality of fishing using diverse tactics throughout the season, don’t overlook this tremendous destination. Swing flies for kings, skate a mouse pattern, surface pollywogs for silvers, options are plentiful. This may be the most productive, consistent fishery we travel to in Alaska.

This is a riverside tent camp where accommodations are modest but comfortable. Each guest will have their own private and sturdy Weathersport tent cabin and will share a boat/guide with another guest during the week. This is an excellent choice for single anglers looking to experience Alaska fly fishing.
