The Norwegian Flyfishers' Club (NFC), based on the Gaula, provides those seeking typical Norwegian fishing with a great base of varied water from which to seek their dreams. Since 2012, NFC has been under new ownership. Brought up in the US, Per Arneberg is a young Norwegian from a well-respected family with a history of fishing some of the great rivers. As Frontiers' clients, the family have explored many Frontiers destinations, meaning they have seen the good and bad to make the right choices for NFC. His partner, Enrico Christiani has worked in the high-end hotel business in many countries.
NFC has water both above and below the temperature barrier of the famous Gaulfoss Pool. This places them in the almost unique position of providing a decent chance of fish no matter what the water height or temperature, which is vital for any travelling fisherman.
They currently have a choice of accommodation between Norwegian country houses and a superb, comfortable lodge which we recommend. Located at Rogstadmoen Farm (near the village of Støren). This lodge serves as the new central meeting point, dining facility, fly shop and bar for the Club.
The Gaula is a double-handed rod river with 13 - 15 ft rods recommended with a good reel with plenty of backing and an assortment of tips and shooting heads. You will need to be prepared to wade fully and therefore a wading stick is recommended. Layered clothing is best for the Norwegian summer.
Their water is fine, wadable flywater, and though not all double bank, it is well run and provides good, authentic Norwegian fishing where guests will be very well looked after. Guests arrive into Trondheim and can be picked up or hire a car. Their stay can be tailored as they wish in terms of number of days, accommodation and beats. The season runs from 1st June to the end of August. It can be divided into three parts: the early season trying for a few big fish, the mid-season for the most fishing and fish (which is considered prime time), and the more delicate and interesting later season.
