Prime Time availability at the Florida Keys Finest Tarpon Lodge

The Bahia Honda Sporting Club is unique in that it is the only fully inclusive fishing lodge in the lower Florida Keys. Ideally situated at the water’s edge in the Cudjoe Key area, the main lodge is a beautiful Mediterranean style Villa which is surrounded by a large wildlife refuge. The lodge is well suited for single anglers, small groups, intact party’s or a corporate retreat. The lodge specializes in sight fishing for migratory tarpon (with the possibility of permit and bonefish) during the prime months of April, May and June only. You’ll enjoy the flexibility of this program to target any and all of these species daily and Reef/Bluewater fishing is also an option.

BHSC caters to anglers and non-anglers alike and all fishing gear is provided. This includes flies and baits, and you’re welcome to use fly or conventional gear. Previous experience is not required either. What makes Tarpon fishing in the Florida Keys unique to most other places on earth, is the large number of really big adult fish you’ll encounter in very shallow, clear water. Few fishing experiences equal the thrill of watching a massive Tarpon eat your fly or bait and once hooked the raw power of these behemoths is astonishing. If you do want to bring your own fly gear, we suggest packing an 11 or 12 weight outfit for Tarpon, an 8 or 9 weight outfit for Bonefish, and a 10 weight outfit for Permit.

BHSC works with highly knowledgeable and hard working local independent guides. Florida Keys guides have a well-earned reputation as some of the finest fishing guides on the planet. They know the waters intimately and will see to your every need.  A flexible daily schedule allows them to fish when tides are best and with easy access to the bright sandy flats of the Atlantic Ocean or the secluded backcountry waters, they’ll take advantage of two distinctly different tide cycles and the opportunities offered by each. You’ll meet your guide shortly after breakfast on the lodge property and depart and return from the dock out front.  No driving in vehicles is necessary and it’s not uncommon to see rolling tarpon within eyesight of the lodge.

The rate of $1,600.00 per person per day is based on Double Occupancy and Shared Guide. The rate includes accommodations, guided  flats fishing, all tackle, all meals (which are prepared by a French chef and sous chef from Paris by way of Saint Barthélemy) and an open complimentary bar including beverages, liquor, and house wines.  There are no hidden or unexpected charges for your trip and you will not receive a bill upon departure other than any pro shop items you choose to purchase. The all-inclusive lodge covers everything except your flights, gratuities, lodge transfers and items of a personal nature.

The easiest way to reach the lodge is via the Key West Airport, followed by a 25 minute drive to the lodge. Taxis are commonly used or transfers can also be arranged. You can fly to Key West via Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Atlanta and other select cities. If flying privately, the Marathon Jet Port is a 40 minute drive from the lodge. Some clients prefer to drive the very scenic U.S. 1 highway (approximately a 3-hour drive) past Key Largo, Islamorada, Marathon and the 7 Mile Bridge before reaching the lodge.
