The impressive natural scenery and wildlife alone will leave you astonished, but the fishing? That will take your adventure to a whole new level. And if you're still searching for the perfect lodge to make your Alaska dream come true, we've got the ideal spot waiting for you!

To help you narrow down the best time for your adventure, here’s a breakdown of the exciting highlights each month of Alaska’s fishing season offers. Most lodges offer fly or spin fishers, so everyone is welcome!

June

June and early July is one of the most thrilling times of the year! From June to early July, Alaska comes alive with the heart-pounding action of rainbow trout and massive king salmon. Picture endless daylight, fair weather, and unparalleled fishing opportunities. Sockeye and chum salmon flood the waters, giving you a variety of exciting targets, while dolly varden and Arctic grayling remain available season-long. The action kicks off in May with the epic downstream migration of millions of salmon fry. And where there's fry, there are predators! Rainbow trout, dolly varden, and lake trout all key in on lake outlet streams during this incredible migration. Small streamers and fry patterns are your ticket to explosive strikes just beneath the surface. When these fish hit, it's a ferocious take, so hold on tight—this is fishing at its finest! It's also prime time to skate a mouse or dry fly.

July

July brings the "grand slam" weeks—when you have the chance to reel in all five species of Pacific Salmon in one day! The sockeye run hits its peak around the 4th of July, creating an action-packed atmosphere that’s perfect for anyone craving a high-energy fishing experience. This is the time for anglers to dive into Alaska’s fish-rich waters, with non-stop action on the line. It's also an ideal opportunity for newcomers to sharpen their skills and learn how to battle big, hard-fighting fish. Whether you're experienced or a first-timer, July promises unforgettable thrills on the water!

August

August is when the fishing reaches new heights, with silver salmon pouring into regional streams, setting the stage for acrobatic topwater action! Chug Pollywogs across the surface and be ready for explosive strikes and thrilling battles. But that's not all—trout fishing heats up as the sockeye egg drop kicks off early in the month. The trout become focused on egg patterns and a bead under a float becomes the secret weapon. And if you're in the mood for something even bigger, large streamers continue to deliver epic action all month long. August is the perfect time for those who love heart-racing, topwater strikes, and enduring fishing action!

September

September marks the final feeding frenzy before winter sets in, and the fishing is nothing short of epic! Trout are at their heaviest, with the chance to hook a double-digit giant becoming a very real possibility. It’s the perfect time for spey casters to cover vast stretches of water, searching for those massive fish. If you’re a trophy trout hunter, you’re in luck during the awesome time of the season —some lodges even operate into October, offering you the chance to chase after the biggest trout of the season. September delivers unparalleled excitement, with the opportunity of landing the fish of a lifetime just around the corner!
