Rare Open Rods on the Thvera River in Iceland

If you’ve spent any time in the Atlantic Salmon fishing world, you know how rare it is to find availability—especially in Iceland. When space does open up, it vanishes almost instantly.

The Thverá River, one of Iceland's most prestigious fly-only salmon rivers, offers an exclusive fishing experience with just seven rods allowed on the water at any time. Frontiers has two rods in July 6-9 and July 18-21 and both are PRIME dates on this river.  These dates are when the large runs of grilse are filling the river and you are certainly optimizing your chance at catching a chrome bright salmon.  With an average annual catch of nearly 2,000 salmon and a rich history dating back to 1904, the Thverá River offers an unparalleled fishing experience combined with first-class lodging and service.

The lodge, located in a picturesque setting along the river, offers eight twin-bedded rooms with private bathrooms, a sauna, Jacuzzi, and drying facilities for fishing gear. After a day on the water, anglers can enjoy gourmet three-course dinners prepared by award-winning chefs, with a cozy lounge and dining room to relax in.

This space won't stick around for long, if you're interested in traveling to the Thverá, please contact me, Ben Hoffman.
