The Lodge is located near Bristol City, Tenessee. Easily accessed via the Tri-Cities Regional Airport, the Lodge overlooks the South Holston River. Offering top-quality lodging, year-round fly fishing, and customized cuisine, the Lodge can cater to single anglers and groups. The river originates at the South Holston reservoir and the bottom release TVA controlled dam, which is seven miles from the Lodge. When releasing water, the river is only fishable by boat. When not releasing, it’s a wade fisherman’s paradise with over 5,000 trout per mile, most of which are wild brown trout.
The summer sulphur hatch makes the South Holston River special. A dry fly fisherman’s mecca, it has what many consider the best sulphur hatch in the United States. It also has great beetle fishing during the summer months, BWO’s, and midges. Wild brown trout up to 10 pounds are caught every year.
The Lodge has three luxury riverside cabins in addition to the main Lodge. Appointed with a classic fly fishing theme, the cabins offer warm, comfortable furniture and luxury bedding. Cable TV and Wi-Fi access make the cabin your home away from home.
Frontiers will provide a thorough packing list. The Lodge recommends 4–6 wt. rods for dry fly and 7–8 wt. rods for streamer fishing. Bring quality rain gear, polarized sunglasses, waders, boots, and sun protection. Dress in layers depending on time of year! The Lodge can provide tackle if needed.
The Lodge is accessed by air via the Tri-Cities Regional Airport (TRI). A representative will greet you at baggage claim for the easy and scenic 30-minute drive from the airport. Bristol, Tenessee is easily accessed via I-81 by private car and is easily drivable from many major eastern US cities. The South Fork of the South Holston River is a cold, clear tailwater holding between 5,000 and 6,000 trout per linear mile.
