Temensis Lodge is a very comfortable private camp in the remote Colombian jungle. The season begins in early December when it is primarily focused on big payara. Soon, the three species of peacock bass will be accessible as well as sardinata and bicuda. We can only take bookings for the camp as a whole but to take the camp and have it privately or with friends makes for a truly wonderful week.
As the river drops from its post rainy season high so it changes and evolves with fishable areas coming into and then out of possibility. Being predatory fish, they too are always on the move. Guests will fish both the main river, its tribuary and various lagoons. No fishing day is ever the same.
There are six rooms, all ensuite and we recommend this as the best number of rods unless your party needs to be bigger to accommodate friends or family.
Best rods are 8 or 9 weight rods for peacock bass and payara with warm water lines and big flies. For smaller species bring a 6 or 7 weight rod with warm water lines. Saltwater clothing is best for the warm, sunny weather.
Guests will overnight in Bogota at a recommended hotel. In the morning you will be picked up and taken to a domestic airport for the 90-minute flight to Barranco Minas. From there, it will take a 2-minute ride to the river with luggage before boarding the river boat for a four-hour journey up river to camp. The same journey applies when leaving except the journey down river is shorter. It should be possible for guests to leave Bogota that night if they wish.
By application only.
