United States – Big Hole Lodge – Prime 2019 Availability Out West

Don’t Let the Cold Weather Stop You from Thinking about Warm Weather in Montana

The summer months in Montana brings everything to life, including insects! The Big Hole Lodge still has some prime availability in May, June, August and September. Historically these have all been great months for dry fly fishing. Caddis, mayflies and stoneflies can all be seen depending on weather/water conditions.

  • May - Caddis, blue winged olives, march browns.
  • June - Salmon flies, golden stones, yellow sally's, green drakes, brown drakes, caddis and pale morning duns.
  • August - Tricos, midges, spruce moths, nocturnal stoneflies and terrestrials.
  • September - Tricos, blue winged olives, mahogany duns and terrestrials.

*Please note that the hatch chart above comes from historical activity and insect activity can change day to day.

Regardless of bug activity, for 30+ years, our returning guests have raved about the well-prepared meals, the attractive accommodations and the exceptional guides. Plus, warm hospitality of owners and host Craig and Wade Fellin and their entire Big Hole Lodge staff!
