Untouched Argentine Waters at Chochoy Mallin

If you think you've explored all the fishing spots around San Martin de los Andes in northern Patagonia, think again. The new Chochoy Mallin program, situated in the northernmost part of Neuquen Province, offers an exciting helifishing experience in less populated and less pressured areas. This weeklong program focuses on waded fishing in the pristine Trocoman River and its tributaries, accessed by short flights in a Bell #407 helicopter. The newly constructed lodge, equipped with modern amenities, ensures a comfortable stay far from the crowds.

Chochoy Mallin, one of the most remote locations in northern Patagonia, could be the last frontier for Argentine fly fishing. Located on a 40,000-acre cattle ranch with three rivers, this area is well north of the renowned fishing spots around San Martin de los Andes and is accessible only by helicopter due to the lack of a nearby airport. Fishing season runs from January to April annually. Guests fly commercially to San Martin de los Andes, then drive four hours north to an airfield for a 20-minute helicopter ride to the lodge. While no cell service exists at the lodge, WiFi is available, and horseback riding is offered for non-anglers. Be sure to pack an overnight bag with essentials as luggage is transported overland to the lodge, and confirm boot and wader sizes in advance if needed.
