In the northwest of the province of Tierra del Fuego, about 60 km southwest of the city of Río Grande, “Wuijoor Lodge” is located on Estancia Laura. The lodge was founded in 2023, using a remodeled ranch house that was built in the 1930s. This is a unique place in the southernmost part of Patagonia, surrounded by rolling foothills with native trees, mountains, and valleys created by the course of the Menendez River and the Ona River. You will fish the Menendez, have a day on the Rio Grande and explore other small streams for trout and sea-trout.
You will fish for both resident and migratory trout. Fishing is very technical as the river has very short and very deep pools where the fish hold on their journey upstream. This normally forces us to use short and sinking lines to be able to present our flies in the place where the fish are lying.
The Lodge has the capacity to accommodate up to a maximum of 6 anglers. The Lodge has Premium Suite rooms, that are doubles, with an en-suite bathroom, and an excellent view of the valley of the Estancia. There is everything you need to relax after long days of fishing.
The most popular rods for the Rio Menedez are single handed rods of 9 or 10 feet, or switch rods, matched with 7 or 8 weight lines. A double handed rod is useful if you are also going to fish the Rio Grande. We will send you full equipment details on booking.
You will fly to Buenos Aires where we would recommend an overnight stay. Then you will fly to Rio Grande Airport where you will be met by a representative of the lodge. From there there is an easy drive of one hour and fifteen minutes on a gravel road that is in good condition. It is a very beautiful trip through different landscapes and Estancias of the island of Tierra del Fuego.
Prices from $4250 per person per week based on a shared twin room.
