Trout Creek Lodge

Bulkley and Skeena River steelhead fishing from a river front private property

The Bulkley and Skeena Rivers rank among the most spectacular steelhead rivers anywhere in BC and internationally. Trout Creek Lodge accommodates four to five guests weekly and is located on a private 80 acre ranch. Perched on a high bluff, the lodge overlooks an inside bend of some of the Bulkley River’s finest and least accessible steelhead water. The views from the lodge porches speak volumes. Gaze straight downstream with not a neighbor in sight with the ultra-prominent Hudson Bay Mountain commanding the horizon - all taken in to the serenade of the mighty Bulkley just steps away.

Fishing

Steelhead fish in this system are bright, aggressive and attainable. Skate dry flies or swing streamers, anglers of all skill levels can produce steelhead. Anglers will fish one guide / day on the Skeena and five on the Bulkley via jet boat.

Accommodation

Built in 1921, the hand hewn timber lodge offers a master suite with attached bathroom and a large upstairs bedroom with a river view. A one bedroom / two bed en-suite guest cabin is available. Amenities include a cord wood sauna, private chef, riverfront trail system and private boat launch.

Gear

Two-handed, switch and single-handed 7 - 9 weight rods are embraced. Multiple line types are necessary weekly - Versitips are useful. Layering is imperative and all weather conditions should be anticipated as the weather is unpredictable. A complete gear and fly list will be provided upon booking.

Trip Specifics

Trout Creek Lodge is approximately 20 miles from Smithers, BC - no additional charters or hotels are necessary. Due to the limited number of regulated guide days on these waters the ratio of Bulkley to Skeena River fishing cannot be adjusted. The beat in front of the lodge is exceptional and may be fished by guests unguided during their stay at Trout Creek. Smithers is a short drive if a night on the town is of interest. Vancouver, BC is the best international airport for access.

Rates

$7,100 per person/week. Includes six days of guided fishing, accommodations, meals at the lodge and wine with dinner. Not included are flight to Smithers, fishing licenses, alcohol and gratuities. Season is mid-August to mid-September and late October to mid-November.
