A combination destination offering anadromous sea-run, trout-spey, and spring creek fishing in Southern Patagonia.
With more than 65 km of exclusive water on the middle section of the Gallegos River and almost 20 km of exclusive beats of the unique Gallegos Chico Spring Creek – Bella Sofia Lodge offers a combination sea run brown trout and resident trout experience unique to Argentina. Accommodating just 6 anglers weekly in a self-sustainable fully renovated historical estancia, this program offers fine dining, excellent Argentine wines, and unique species diversity and focus. Swing larger wet flies and skate bombers along the historical pools for migrating sea run brown trout. These pools look large and glassy however do not be fooled – during low water one can readily see the abundance of structure and holding water for these fish. Cover every inch carefully and listen to your guide who knows these blind features. Trout-spey the Gallegos for resident brown trout up 8 pounds with lighter 3-5 weight trout spey and switch rods for a lucrative and explosive twist to the two-handed rod experience.
Need more? The Rio Chico is a serpentine spring creek engulfed in the property borders that meanders aimlessly and, in some spots, offers channels narrow enough to jump across. Don’t be fooled, however, resident browns litter the system each looking up for an errant terrestrial and ideal for site-fishing with a 4 to 5-weight rod. The personality of the stream and Southern Patagonia weather make this creek both challenging and extremely gratifying collectively.
Below is the current remaining space for the 2024 Bella Sofia experience, although space does change daily:
