Yes, the Marquesas Keys are part of the lower 48, but it sure does not feel like it. If one did not know better, they would swear they had arrived at the Indian Ocean or South Pacific Atoll and not just 20 miles from Key West, Florida. While the fishing diversity is prolific here, the Keys may be most well-known for the opportunity for huge tarpon and a permit/tarpon/bonefish grand slam. The Outpost Mothership accentuates the experience via well-appointed creature comforts and a menu centralized on made to order and fresh ocean to table seafood.
Atoll-style fishing, the Marquesas feature a vast lagoon stippled with sand and grass tidal flats fed by deep cuts and channels feeding a steady influx of grand slam and other game species to the system. Professional local Keys guides operate Glide and Hell’s Bay skiffs accommodating 2 anglers per.
Offered as an exclusive departure for a max of four guests, this 61’ Hatteras features four staterooms and two bathrooms, an airy living room/bar and galley, ample outdoor deck space with satellite TV and AC throughout the vessel, all hosted by an expert captain, veteran Keys guides and gourmet chef
Guides will provide all tackle as needed. As a rule, if bringing your own, pack an 11/12 wt. outfit for the tarpon, an 8/9 weight for bonefish, and 10 wt. for the permit. Tropical flats clothing, footwear, and sun protection are important. Frontiers provides a full pre-trip upon booking.
Departures are sold as intact parties, and the vessel accommodated a maximum of four anglers to two skiffs/guides. Custom options and shorter or longer stays may be available on request. Eleven uses a 27? Scorpion guest transport between the vessel and Key West. Weather happens, but “down days” don’t; pack accordingly. In addition to the flats fishing, snorkeling, and exploring local waters for other species are readily offered. Frontiers can book any flights, rental cars if needed, hotels, trip extensions, or any additional necessities in-house.
Four-night/days starting at $19,200 and five-night/days starting at $24,000 for up to four anglers. The season is May-early July. Departures include water transfers, guided fishing, gear, flies, meals, and all beverages. Excluding Key West airfare, hotels if needed, and guide/staff gratuities.
