A remote paradise built into the jungle hillside, Tropic Star is one of the world’s most comfortable and truly great fishing lodges. Reached by plane or boat, just 150 miles south of Panama City, the Lodge opened in 1963 and has set more than 300+ World Records. Anglers from all over the world target marlin, sailfish, tuna, dorado, roosterfish and inshore species. Superb fishing, staff, and crew have guests returning yearly with eagerness.
Optional activities include visiting an indigenous tribe, hiking, kayaking, snorkeling, or touring the amazing backstage and operation of this lodge.
Crewed by experienced captains and mates, the 31-ft fully-equipped Bertrams, now with bait wells, hold 1-4 anglers. All species of billfish and non-billfish are caught year-round just 6-15 miles offshore in the pristine waters of Pinas Bay. Contact us for seasonal guidelines on various species.
The lodge holds 38 guests in 19 air-conditioned rooms and 6 guests in the luxurious Palace, all with porches and stunning bay views. Onsite is a dining room serving breakfasts and fine gourmet dinners, 2 bars, and a freshwater pool with a grill area. The dining experience is known to be exceptional.
All conventional tackle is provided to catch every available species. The upkeep and repairs of the boats and tackle is done in-house, resulting in well maintained equipment. Fly anglers must bring their fly equipment
