Of royal heritage, Uruguay Lodge blends rich history and vast game-populated countrysides to form an iconic southern hemisphere mixed bag shooting experience. Managed by David Denies Wingshooting partners and longtime shooting hosts Bernardo and Mercedes Barran, Uruguay Lodge offers the convenience of shooting multiple species from one destination. You will shoot doves, perdiz, and ducks with the assurance of a tenured outfitter, known remarkable shooting venues, and extraordinary dogs.
Shooters enjoy hard flushing perdiz hunts over setters or puddle ducks over decoys in the morning. Lunch is a sit-down affair at the estancia featuring grilled meats and fine wines. The afternoons include volume dove shoots as vast flights migrate between the nearby fields, water, and roost.
The historic 19th-century mansion of noble lineage exemplifies the rich traditions of Uruguay. Offering six ensuite bedrooms, it is ideal for smaller parties or up to 8 guests comfortably. The Barran’s hospitality and cuisine have become famous over their 30 years in the shooting world.
Semi-auto and o/u rental guns from 12–28 ga. are available. Beretta/Benelli are the commonly carried brands. Shells are species-appropriate. Shooting clothes should be light green, green, or brown; camouflage is optional. We suggest a recoil reduction device to ease the impact of volume shooting.
Uruguay Lodge is located in Young, which is in the northwest region of Uruguay in the department of Rio Negro approximately 200 miles from Montevideo. Daily flights to Montevideo are available. You will be met at the airport, assisted with gun clearance (if necessary), issued with hunting licenses, and transported to the Lodge. Ground transfer from Montevideo to the estancia is a 3.5-hour drive. Private charter options are quoted upon request.
The nightly rate is $1,695 per hunter, hunting license is $450 per stay, shells are $23.50 per box, and the gun rental is $125 per day. Transfers for two passengers to/from Montevideo are $240 per person/per way.
