Chrome Chasers offers either a fishing focused experience or a fishing foraging, cooking, and preserving experience. Groups may spend more time on either fishing or the combination of fishing and foraging/harvesting. What is not consumed at meals will be either smoked and canned or sealed and frozen for guests to take home at the end of their stay. This unique program offers freshwater stream fishing for salmon, trout, dolly varden or troll the salt for all salmon species. Limited to 4-6 guests per week keeps the experience exclusive to intact groups.
Fish remote freshwater streams around Wrangell Island with fly rods or conventional gear. Species can include silvers, sockeye, pinks, chums, rainbow trout, cutthroats, and dolly varden. They also fish inland saltwater passages for silvers, kings, halibut, ling cod, and other bottom fish.
The Lodge takes 4 individual anglers or up to 3 couples for up to a total of 6 guests per week. There are 4 guest bedrooms, each with a queen bed. The fishing foraging trip is great for husbands and wives or a group couples’ vacation. There are 3 full baths and a half bath that are shared by guests.
Rods/reels/flies/waders are provided. A 10’ 7 wt. rod is ideal if bringing your own. They have all the rod, reel, and line set-ups you’ll need for ocean and stream fishing. They provide all terminal tackle like tippet, leaders, split shot, etc. A detailed packing list will be provided upon booking.
Fly to Wrangell, AK arriving on Sunday. The lodge is only 10 minutes away. During your stay, you’ll fish a variety of bays in SE Alaska and a variety of streams around Wrangell Island for silver, sockeye, pinks, chums, cutthroat trout, rainbow trout and dolly varden. Fly fishing or conventional tackle rods are both available. Ocean fish for king and silver salmon as well as halibut and other bottom fish. Guests fish shrimp/crab/prawn pots all week and take home the extra harvest at the end of the week. Other activities may include digging for clams, mushroom foraging, and berry picking.
6 nights lodging and 5 days of guided fishing and foraging is $8,500 per person. Limited to 4-6 anglers per week for an exclusive experience. Included is seafood harvesting where guests will set crab, shrimp, and prawn pots to harvest and consume during the week.
