Estancia San Juan sits majestically atop a knoll with a striking 360° view of the Uruguayan countryside. The estancia is a stylish sporting property that pampers visiting shooters with the creature of comforts of an estate home. Managed by DD Wingshooting partners and longtime shooting hosts Bernardo and Mercedes Barran, San Juan offers the convenience of shooting game birds in Uruguay—doves, perdiz, and decoyed ducks in the mix—from just one destination and the assurance of a world-class outfitter known for attention to detail and quality.
Shooters enjoy hard flushing perdiz hunts over setters or puddle ducks over decoys in the morning. Lunch is a sit-down affair at the estancia featuring grilled meats and fine wines. The afternoons include volume dove shoots as vast flights migrate between the nearby fields, water, and roost.
San Juan accommodates up to 10 guests in five bedrooms, each with a bathroom and fireplace. A comfortable living and dining room boasts a majestic view to complement exquisite meals and fine wines. On pleasant evenings, enjoy the fresh air and countryside at the open-air galleria.
Semi-auto and o/u rental guns from 12–28 ga. are available. Beretta/Benelli are the commonly carried brands. Shells are species-appropriate. Shooting clothes should be light green, green or brown; camouflage is optional. We suggest a recoil reduction device to ease the impact of volume shooting.
Estancia San Juan is located in the region of Uruguay known as Flores, 145 miles from Montevideo. You will be met at the airport, assisted with gun clearance (if necessary), issued with hunting licenses, and transported to the Lodge. Shooters commonly fly to Montevideo Carrasco International Airport (MVD) and from there have two transfer options: 1) Private charter from Montevideo to Durazno airport, which is located approx 1 hour from the lodge. 2) Ground transfer from Montevideo to the estancia, which is approx 3 hours away.
The nightly rate is $1,750 per hunter, hunting license $450 per stay, shells are between $23.50 per box, and the gun rental is $125 per day. Transfers for two passengers to/from Montevideo are $240 per person/per way.
