Set high on a Lake Iliamna ridgeline with a commanding view, this lodge is one of the last destinations where fishermen can battle wild rainbow trout that may exceed 10 lbs. Under the well-seasoned and watchful eye of host and guide, Joe Hyde, guests are taken out in jet boats daily to access the Copper River-one of Alaska's premier fly fishing catch and release trout rivers. Easily waded due to the size, anglers of all ages and experience levels will be enticed by the endless excitement the river has to offer. Call early as the lodge sells to capacity seasonally.
The classic birch-lined Copper River is packed with dry-fly boulder-studded pools, riffles and undercuts begging for a mouse fly. A prolific sockeye run is the lifeblood of the fishery; rainbows push from the lake behind them. Enjoy sight fishing nymphs and dries to Alaska-size bows in thin water.
The newly built lodge is perched on a ridge overlooking the Copper River. It accommodates private groups of up to 6 fly fishermen per week in a family-style atmosphere. The exceptional fishing, unique location, familiar staff and wholesome food afford near perfect rebooking; space is at a premium.
A 5 wt. and 7 wt. are optimum. Bring lighter rods for dry flies and egging, plus larger rod for salmon and swinging mouse patterns. Lake Iliamna generates various weather, so dry bags and layering are a must. We provide comprehensive pre-trip information and a gear list upon booking.
Iliamna Air Taxi reservations are reserved by Frontiers and typically require an overnight in Anchorage prior to flying. Fly out fishing is now included for 4 days with 2 days of local fishing by boat. Whether the fish are keying on eggs or dry flies, swing a mouse for a few hours a day. The experience is explosive, and the largest of rainbows in the river are opportunistic. The Lodge has the distinct advantage of being a small operation located riverside. This allows them to cater to both the serious and the more laid-back fisherman.
$9,750 per person/week. 6 anglers weekly Sunday/Saturday, 7-day/6-night rotation. Fishing on your departure day. Frontiers arranges the Anchorage to Iliamna charters and they are an additional fee. Pre-orders of preferred alcoholic beverages are necessary and Alaska fishing licenses are additional.

Wild rainbow trout are available from ice-out, with a double-digit trout a distinct possibility at any date ...
