Rio Piedra Plantation is located alongside the picturesque banks of the Flint River in the heart of Georgia’s Plantation Belt. The Plantation combines an unparalleled commitment to exceptional wingshooting with first rate accommodations, “relaxed five star dining,” gracious service and luxurious surroundings. Rio Piedra is uniquely located in the heart of the Classic Plantation Belt, which stretches for roughly 100 miles through southern Georgia and into north Florida. The population density of Bobwhite Quail here is unlike that of any other place on earth.
The season runs from Oct. 20 - mid March. Hunts are customized to each party. Shooters can experience a variety of terrain from pristine pine forests to gently rolling grass meadows along both sides of the Flint River. Equipped Jeeps transport hunters, guides and dogs to rested hunting areas.
The main lodge and cabins feature antique English furnishings and exude a feel of informal elegance. 18 single and double occupancy rooms are available. The two story lodge features amenities that will immerse you in traditional southern hospitality and charm. All meals are served in the lodge.
Double barreled shotguns from 20 - 28 gauges are suggested. 20 ga. Orvis and Caesar Guerrini O / U shotguns are available to rent and ammo can be bought on-site. An orange hunter hat and jacket / shirt are required. A GA Shooting Preserve License is mandatory. Shooting instruction can be provided.

This is where the birds have always been and where they continue to be. Thanks to intensive conservation efforts, wild bobwhites are more abundant today than ever with populations exceeding those of the 1960’s hey days. This is one of the many reasons that the plantation is the only three time winner of the coveted “Orvis Wingshooting Lodge of the Year” award.
Rio Piedra Plantation has several different types of quail hunting packages, and seldom are two alike. Customize a perfect shooting vacation to meet your family, group or business requirements. A minimum stay of two nights is suggested. Please inquire about options, availability, and current rates.
