A Species Lover’s Nirvana, Fish On!

Providence Atoll is back. Run by the experienced guides from Fly Castaway, it is truly a fly fishing utopia with giant and bluefin trevally, triggerfish, bumphead parrotfish, bonefish and other species caught on the flats. With 46 km of pristine white and turtle grass flats, the enormous lagoon system has numerous channels linking the Indian Ocean.

A live-aboard operation, the 130-ft. MV Maya Dugong, an ex-research vessel that was modified into a mother-ship for long-range fly fishing expeditions will be your home for the week.

Fishing

Providence has it all; GTs, triggerfish, bonefish, milkfish, permit and bumphead parrotfish. With deep water nearby, fish for yellowfin tuna, dogtooth tuna, wahoo and sailfish; all on a fly. Watching a pack of GTs ravage a school of bonefish on the flats is a sight you will never forget.

Accommodation

Accommodations are on the live-aboard vessel MV Maya Dugong. A retired research vessel, the ship has been upgraded and modified for long-range fly fishing trips. The guestrooms have en-suite bathrooms. The sleeping quarters, dining room and lounge are air conditioned for your comfort.

Gear

As a general rule, a 9-wt outfit for bonefish and permit, 10-wt. for triggerfish and milkfish and a 12-wt. for the GTs and bluewater. A complete gear list will be sent upon confirmation of your trip. Tackle can be loaned on-site if pre-booked - you need to bring your own fly-lines and spares.

Trip Specifics

Season: March-May/October-December. Start in Mahe with the 1-hour and 45-minute charter flight to Farquhar Atoll where you will board the Maya’s Dugong for the 6 to 8 hour cruise to Providence Atoll. Guests need to arrive the day before the trip and overnight in Mahe. All expenses in Mahe are not included in the package. Once on the vessel, your only communication with the outside world is by satellite phone; extra charges will apply if used.

Most of the fishing will be done via wading, so good, protective footwear is required.

Medical Evacuation Insurance is mandatory.

Rates

2024 season: The 7N/6D package is $15,500.00 per person based on shared occupancy/guide. Limited single Occupancy/shared guide is $18,000.00. The package includes Global Rescue Insurance and a round-trip Mahe charter flight. Mahe hotels and transfers are not included.
