A true fisherman’s lodge–waterfront digs with all the comforts of home

Since its opening in 2009, Abaco Lodge has become a favorite of fishermen looking for great comfort, but in a “no frills” package. Excellent cuisine, spacious double-occupancy rooms with waterfront porches, open bar, satellite TV, a fire pit and a dipping pool all welcome anglers back from a hard day of fishing.

Maverick HPXS skiffs captained by some of the Island’s top guides rounds out the Abaco Lodge experience. You’ll fish the famed Marls; 40 square miles of bonefish nirvana. A true target rich environment that will keep both novice and experienced anglers happy.

Fishing

The Marls is best known for its prolific numbers of bonefish, but don’t let that fool you. There are plenty of opportunities to cast to fish exceeding 5 lbs. during the course of a day’s fishing. All fishing is done from the bow of a skiff due to the soft bottom that gives the area its name.

Accommodation

Double accommodations are standard following the lodge's reopening. All rooms have queen beds, air-conditioning, en-suite bathrooms, and waterfront sunset patio views. 7 rooms with 2 queen size beds each and 2 rooms with single king size beds – for a total of 9 rooms – up to 12 anglers

Gear

Like most bonefish destinations, 8-weight outfits with floating lines are the norm, while 7-weights are a bit more sporting. Basic bonefish patterns like the Gotcha and Spawning Shrimp reign supreme w/ tippets and leaders tapered to 12 lbs. Outfits are available for those not wanting to tote gear.

Rates include transportation to/from Marsh Harbour (MHH) as well as full board, open bar, fishing loaner gear (Rods, reels & lines), etc .Fly commercially to Marsh Harbour where you will be met by a lodge representative and transferred to the Lodge; a 10 minute drive. American Airlines, Delta, and Bahamas Air fly to Marsh Harbour. Private air charters from Ft. Lauderdale or West Palm Beach can also be arranged by Frontiers.
