In northern Patagonia there are few places as remote as Chochoy Mallin – it could be the last frontier for Argentine fly fishing. The fishing area is well north of the famed fishing hotspots around San Martin de los Andes – so much so that you need a helicopter to get here because the area is not serviced by a nearby airport. This region has only recently come online and is still being explored. Chochoy Mallin is located on a 40,000-acre cattle ranch that has three rivers flowing through it. If you like waded fishing away from the crowds then this is the place for you.
Daily helicopter trips from the lodge take you to spring creeks, high mountain lakes and small rivers. Your guide will put you on the rainbow, brown and brook trout that live in these waters. Wade or wet wade these remote untouched waters and feel your pulse quicken.
A maximum of 8 anglers per week can be taken in four luxury bedrooms, each with two double beds and en suite bathrooms. One night during the week is spent at the Trocoman River House. This new lodge has all the first class amenities to help you relax after a day on the water.
5-6 wt. trout rigs with weight forward floating lines will handle the fishing situations and various water sizes. Corresponding sink tips are ideal for streamers or lakes. A complete gear list is provided with confirmation packages. Contact Frontiers staff for in-depth tackle recommendations.
