Partridge are small native European game birds that are found across the European mainland and the UK. There are two main sub-species that are pursued by hunters. The red-legged partridge is native to France, Spain and Italy. They have also been introduced to the UK and are now considered naturalized. The other species is the grey partridge which naturally occurs in the UK and across the European mainland into Asia. Shooting for red-legged partridge is done across the UK and Spain. They are a sporty bird that favors flying in coveys, which makes for some excellent sport. They are best shot off rolling downland where they star burst over hedgerows, or driven off high hills where they present a very challenging shot.
